All what Paul talks about in this chapter is the Christian’s union with Christ through Baptism and faith. This is all part of what Christ won for us by dying on the cross and providing unity with the Holy Spirit by Baptism and faith. It is here that Paul rejoices in Christ as the fulfillment of the Law. Using the “in Christ” formula, Paul alludes to the believer’s Baptism into Christ wherein the Holy Spirit unites with the believer. Jesus has not only vindicated Himself by His resurrection from the dead but also vindicated the one who has set his hope in Him. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
