In today’s text from Romans 9, Paul wrestles with the unbelief of Israel, whom he loves so dearly. This, for Paul, may be the ultimate test of his doxology—that we trust God when we do not fully understand His ways—but Paul notes that God’s actions are always gracious, working toward salvation, whether received in faith or rejected in unbelief.
