A note of joy anticipates the birth of the Christ Child- the Word made flesh in the womb of Mary- and also looks forward with delight to His return at the end of the age. This Sunday, therefore, provides a pause in the surrounding penitential nature of Advent. The symbolism of a pink or rose candle on the Advent wreath furthers the message of joy. John the Baptist is consistently featured as the herald of the Messiah’s coming. Welcome all!
