Throughout 2 Timothy, Paul has repeatedly spoken about the Word of God. He has referred to “the pattern of the sound words” (1:13) Timothy has heard, he has declared that “the word of God is not bound!” (2:9), and he has exhorted Timothy to be one “rightly handling the word of truth” (2:15). In this text, however, this “Word of God” finds its fullest definition: the God-breathed Scriptures. Welcome to the Lord’s House!
