Special texts for Reformation Day make it a “time out” from the later Pentecost season. The hymn based on this text, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” is from the Church Militant section of the Lutheran Service Book. Although filled with battle terminology, the hymn assures us that it isn’t our fighting that wins the victory but Jesus, who fights for us.
